Mr. Kilgalen is trained in clinical hypnosis, trauma, treatment of mood disorders and addictions treatment.

Additional experience includes being the coordinator family therapy for the Hartford County community mental health center, a faculty field liaison overseeing graduate internships for the University of Maryland, and a clinical instructor for graduate clinical social work interns. He has worked as a consultant to outside agencies providing family therapy training and clinical supervision. Mr Kilgalen has presented at the national conference of Catholic charities and made media appearances to discuss the effects on mental health of unemployment, and holiday depression.

He uses a systemic, competency-based, approach to therapy. Helping individuals, couples, and families to access their innate strengths/abilities to learn to better manage their specific developmental lifecycle issues while in therapy. Specific treatment issues include anxiety, depression, grief, addictions, interpersonal conflicts, and life cycle transitions. These are treated in a safe, nurturing environment. His treatment approach is to partner with his clients to help them work to attain their unique treatment goals.
